About Mike Appleton:

Mike is the Chairman of the Ice Hockey Journalists’ UK, as well as being a member of the Sports Journalists’ Association, Rugby League Writers’ Association, National Union of Journalists, the Mountain Training Association, the British Mountaineering Council and the Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild.

Short Biography:

Media Manager at St Helens Rugby Football Club. Covers Ice Hockey at all levels, with specific focus on the Elite and English Premier Ice Hockey Leagues. Freelance for regional media including the Oldham Chronicle and the Bolton News. Contributed to the Ice Hockey Annual, Powerplay Magazine, several Ice Hockey Programmes, Blogs and The Hockey News (Canada) as well as the now defunct North West Enquirer. Written Ice Hockey legend Tony Hand MBE’s autobiography, which was published in late 2006, and the autobiography of Rugby League legend Kel Coslett. Lee Briers: Off The Cuff was launched in November 2013, Yorkshire’s Three Peaks: The Inside Story of the Dales was published in Spring 2014, 50 Gems of the Yorkshire Dales in Spring 2015 and 25 Great Walkers’ Pubs in the Yorkshire Dales May 2016Has several years experience in publishing (contract, trade, internal, B2B).
